End-to-end encrypted Chat built into a social app

Encrypted social Chat lets people move from public discovery to private conversation without switching apps. On Zirze, two people can Chat after they follow each other. Message content is encrypted on the sender’s device and decrypted for the recipient, while Zirze’s servers receive ciphertext during ordinary operation.

What does end-to-end encrypted Chat protect?

End-to-end encryption is designed so private message content can be read on participating users’ devices rather than by the service carrying it. Zirze encrypts Chat text and supported media before the content is stored or delivered.

No encryption claim should be read as total anonymity. Accounts, participants, timestamps, delivery information, safety events, and other operational metadata may still be processed as described in the Privacy Policy.

Why require mutual follows?

The mutual-follow requirement creates a deliberate transition from public interaction to private communication. It reduces unsolicited private messages and makes Chat an intentional connection rather than an open inbox.

Public posts and private Chat serve different purposes

  • Use Social posts when you want content to be discoverable.
  • Use Chat for ongoing private conversation with a mutual follower.
  • Use Flares for private, encrypted sharing that expires at a chosen time.

Common questions

Is Zirze Chat end-to-end encrypted?

Yes. Zirze encrypts Chat content on participating devices, and its servers receive ciphertext rather than message plaintext during ordinary operation.

Are public Zirze posts encrypted like Chat?

No. Social posts are designed for public sharing. End-to-end encryption applies to private Chat and Flares, which have a different audience and purpose.

Does encrypted Chat hide all metadata?

No. End-to-end encryption protects message content; it does not eliminate all account, participant, timestamp, delivery, or safety metadata.
